Here you will find the most important points at a glance if you are interested in a master thesis/master seminar in the field of urban and environmental psychology:

  • The Environmental Psychology Group offers Master's seminars every term
  • From 2025, we start new Master’s cohorts in the summer term (March)
  • To apply for this, please send an overview of your grades as well as (a) short research idea(s) (maximum I page) to env.psychology@univie.ac.at
  • Please consult our website for current projects and publications, and for previous Master’s theses
  • Typical psychological topics are:
    • Pro-environmental behavior and its predictors
    • Social processes that harm or help pro-environmental attitudes and behaviour
    • The role of affect/emotion
    • Risk perception, risk/science communication
  • These are investigated in the context of:
    • The benefits of nature, nature & health
    • Climate Change
    • Environmental Pollutants such as Microplastics and Forever Chemicals
    • Conservation of wildlife, biodiversity
  • Our preferred methods are quantitative, with correlational and/or experimental designs, using cross-sectional survey methods, existing secondary data sets and new primary data collection
  • If you have some ideas related to an internship / placement or your own professional links, feel free to approach us too regarding the themes above. We often work with external partners in our research and like the benefits this can bring to all partners
